Beauty above the water
The lotus is a familiar subject in Chinese art. Its clean blossom emerging from muddy water has been associated with purity and integrity, including in Buddhist imagery and the writing of the philosopher Zhou Dunyi. Its meaning depends on the artwork and its context; no single explanation covers every lotus motif.
Our everyday interpretation
At RUYI TALES, we draw on that image to express renewal and resilience: a personal reminder that difficult surroundings do not have to define what comes next. This is our contemporary interpretation of the flower, offered as a wish you can carry.
A thoughtful way to give it
Let the message be personal. A short note explaining why you chose this meaning can make a small gift feel connected to the person receiving it.
A closer look
Does a lotus always have a religious meaning?
No. It appears in religious and secular art. The surrounding imagery and context help explain a particular work.
